Kim Smith – Pelagic Journey

Pelagic Journey by Kim Smith is a sequel exhibition to Smith’s 2005 Pelagic Progression. In this series, she continues to dive into another exploration of the restless power of the vast, deep ocean. Smith facilitates a visual code of the pelagic journey in which fish move from the harmony and balance of their natural surroundings to the disarray and chaos of human capture.

Georgia Art Express

In 2007 I coached an Ascham student named Georgia with her Higher School Certificate major work. I supported  Georgia’s exploration of printing, sculpture & 3d assemblage. Georgia was exhibited in the Art Express at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2008. Brilliant work Georgia! Artist’s statement Drawing inspiration from Australian artists such as Bernard Ollis and the Strutt sisters, my artwork is an attempt to explore the power of simplicity and the naive symbolism as a means of bridging the communication divide that separates us. My artwork is an extension of drawings done by a brave, young boy, Daniel Harris, a close family friend who is hearing-impaired and living with cerebral palsy.
